Holiday Survival Tip #1: Weigh yourself twice a week
Weighing yourself twice a week is your early warning system to prevent unwanted, and seemingly inevitable, holiday weight gain. Whatever you weigh right now, try to maintain or at least stay within 1-2 pounds of that.
Weighing yourself twice a week means you can take action sooner, rather than later, and then you won’t have to spend the next 5 months trying to lose those holiday-acquired pounds.
- Weigh yourself first thing in the morning, right after you get up, before breakfast
- Do this twice a week. Choose your two days and stick to that schedule throughout the holiday season.
Begin paying attention NOW, especially if you started your holiday indulging at Halloween.
If your weight does begin to creep upward, do a reality check and take a very close look at what you’ve been eating and drinking.
Look at quantity and quality:
- Is there more processed sugar in your diet?
- Are you drinking more alcohol than usual?
These treats will throw your blood sugar out of balance and set you up for hunger, food cravings, and weight gain, before you’re even through Thanksgiving.
Keep tabs on what you’re actually eating and drinking, then adjust your intake accordingly until the scale says you’re back at your pre-holiday weight.
Have a Happy Thanksgiving!
