Holiday Survival Tip #4: Do the ‘Is it Worthy’ test
I want to help you avoid wasting your calories during the holidays - on the ‘so sweet your teeth hurt’ desserts or candy to the ‘made you bloated and you didn’t even like it’ side dishes.
It’s no fun having your holiday meals or treats with a side of regret, weight gain, and feeling like crap as a result. While it’s certainly fine to indulge, first, make sure it’s really worth it.
Do the ‘Is it worthy’ test
Before committing to eating (or drinking) the whole serving:
- Take one small bite, piece, or sip and slowly taste it.
Don’t swallow yet!
- Evaluate its qualities:
Is it too sweet or just right?
Is the texture gooey and icky or silky and luscious?
Is it of poor quality or the finest you’ve ever had?
- Is it something special that you rarely have or an everyday taste you can get anywhere, anytime?
- Is it meh or marvelous?
If it doesn’t pass your ‘Is it Worthy’ test, pass it up. You’ll save yourself some regret, weight gain, and getting caught in a holiday sugar-eating and carb-craving cycle.
But, if you deem your indulgence worthy, enjoy!
